Boehringer Ingelheim on the Respimat® device: Since its introduction more than 20 years ago, the Respimat® soft mist inhaler has established itself as a leading inhalation device, impressing not only with its innovative technology but also with its sustainable features. The first part of the presentation highlights the remarkable journey of the Respimat®, focusing on three key aspects: sustainability, reusability and resource-efficient production conditions. It demonstrates how the Respimat®, with its advanced aspects and production, takes a pioneering role in medical technology and sets a benchmark for a more sustainable future.

Covestro on more sustainable materials for medical devices: In the second part of the presentation we discuss, how Covestro materials can contribute to future innovative and sustainable drug delivery device designs. In 2022, Covestro launched an all-polycarbonate device concept that streamlines disassembly, sorting, and recycling after use. Since then, we have collaborated closely with partners and customers to enhance this concept and expand our material offering for next-generation drug delivery devices. Our advancements range from lower carbon-footprint medical polycarbonates to innovations such as low-friction polycarbonates for improved component movement in mono-material designs or highly durable housing materials for reusable devices designed to endure multiple lifecycles.
