Oxygen control in pharmaceutical blister packaging is critical for ensuring drug stability, particularly in nitrogen-flushed Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP). Even trace levels of oxygen can accelerate oxidative degradation, reduce drug potency, and compromise therapeutic efficacy. Accurate oxygen measurement is, therefore, a key factor in quality control and regulatory compliance.
The B-O2 (fully automatic optical oxygen) blister measuring device from Echo Instruments utilizes a fluorescence quenching technology for precise oxygen concentration measurements. This presentation will detail the theory of measuring principles and practice using automatic oxygen in blister measuring. The method delivers rapid, repeatable, and highly accurate results, making it ideal for batch validation and pharmaceutical packaging integrity testing. The device is also very useful for testing the sealing quality of batch packaging over a long period of time under various storage conditions.
Additionally, we will present a comparative analysis of the previous and latest B-O2 device versions, focusing on advancements in automation, improved measurement accuracy, and enhanced suitability for pharmaceutical applications to ensure packaging reliability and extended product shelf life.
