Long-Term Partnership in Injectable Device Industrialization

Abstract

As self-injection and home-based care grow in complexity and scale, industrialization can no longer be treated as a late‑stage activity. Success now relies on early, structured collaboration between device developers and automation partners.

For Ypsomed, industrialization begins at the earliest stages of device development. Platform architectures, lifecycle planning, and design‑for‑assembly principles are embedded from the start to ensure efficient assembly, validation, and future scalability. Close technical exchange with Mikron during feasibility and concept development ensures that device design and industrial feasibility progress together. This alignment continues through validation, where semi‑automated and automated builds help characterize critical process parameters and create a smooth path to high‑volume production.

Mikron strengthens this approach through early process characterization, structured scale‑up, and long‑term lifecycle support, ensuring robust and reliable automated lines. A joint highlight — the flexible, recipe‑based automated assembly solution for fast‑track YpsoMate design verification — demonstrates how early collaboration shortens timelines and aligns verification with future industrial mass production.

Attendees will see why long‑term collaboration accelerates and de‑risks commercialization.
