Abstract

In many cases today, product development is completed before the equipment supplier is involved in designing the corresponding production line. This often leads to complex processes that could have been simplified through small design adjustments made earlier in development, improving OEE, quality and cost efficiency.

This presentation introduces the value of involving the production equipment manufacturer earlier in the development process, beginning with the initial idea of a new product. It outlines the DFM/DFA study approach and explains how manufacturers can be supported on the path to a scalable and production‑ready design.

Participants will gain insights into:
  • Evaluation of components and assembly process based on initial CAD design or 3 D Printed models
  • Laboratory test setups for early process validation
  • Recommendations for optimized, production‑ready product design
  • Risk assessment
  • Support until the product is ready for production
  • Recommendations for design adjustments
  • Use of the Assembly Lab, a laboratory‑scale assembly system providing process data for later production
